Góðvinir Grunnavíkur-Jóns
Góðvinir Grunnavíkur-Jóns er félagsskapur sem stofnaður var í Reykjavík árið 1994. Félagið hefur að markmiði að breyta þeirri mynd sem menn hafa af Jóni Ólafssyni úr Grunnavík og standa vörð um fræðimannsheiður hans með því að kynna hann, æviferil hans og störf. Góðvinir hafa í þessu skyni beitt sér fyrir útgáfu á verkum Jóns og umfjöllun um þau, sem og málþingum um Jón og verk hans. Á vetrin hittast góðvinir reglulega á góðvinafundum þar sem rætt er um ævi og störf Jóns og hlýtt á sprokmeistara úr hópi góðvina fjalla um verk hans eða lesa úr þeim. Á sumrin fara góðvinir í hólagöngur á slóðir Jóns, ýmist hérlendis eða erlendis.
Fyrsti fréttaritarinn – málþing í Eddu 24. janúar 2026
Það má með nokkrum sanni halda því fram að Jón Ólafsson úr Grunnavík (1705–1779) hafi verið fyrsti íslenski fréttaritarinn af mörgum í Kaupmannahöfn en hann sendi fjölmarga fréttapistla til Íslands á árunum 1730–1779. Félagið Góðvinir Grunnavíkur-Jóns heldur málþing í Eddu 24. janúar kl. 13.30–15.50 þar sem verður sagt frá þessu gríðarmikla safni óútgefinna fréttapistla eða -seðla. Jón flutti fréttir utan úr heimi og frá Danmörku og um Íslendinga í Höfn. Einnig aflaði hann frétta frá Íslandi og skráði skipulega hjá sér. Fréttirnar eru varðveittar í handritunum AM 994 4to, AM 995 4to og AM 997 I–III 4to, þúsundir handskrifaðra síðna.
Sagt verður frá verkefni sem Góðvinir Grunnavíkur-Jóns standa að og hefur lengi verið í undirbúningi um að skrifa upp fréttabréfin og gera þau aðgengileg. Guðvarður Már Gunnlaugsson fjallar um þennan efnivið allan og handritin og Margrét Jóna Gísladóttir lýsir verkefninu sem nýlega fékk styrk. Jóhannes B. Sigtryggsson fjallar um málið á fréttabréfunum, Svavar Sigmundsson mun lesa upp úr þeim og að lokum fjallar Bogi Ágústsson um reynslu sína af því að vera fréttaritari í Kaupmannahöfn.
